Amanda Patterson studies uterine function in health and disease in women and cattle. Specifically, she investigates the molecular and cellular mechanisms of endometrial regeneration and the consequences of inappropriate regeneration and uterine infection on subsequent function and fertility. She also studies the pathogenesis of uterine fibroids and adenomyosis, gynecological diseases, that may arise as a consequence of dysregulated regenerative mechanisms.

- Investigation of the normal mechanisms of menstrual and postpartum endometrial regeneration to advance our understanding of women’s reproductive health
- Elucidation of the pathobiology of uterine fibroids and adenomyosis, highly prevalent gynecological disease that often result in hysterectomy
