Bornali Kundu portrait

Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery, School of Medicine
Affiliate Faculty, Chemical, Biological and Biomedical programs, College of Engineering
Neurosurgeon, MU Health Care

NextGen Focus Area: Human electrophysiology, memory and learning, cognitive neuroscience, signal processing, epilepsy, movement disorders, Parkinson’s disease

Bornali Kundu’s research is focused on understanding the neural mechanisms subserving human working memory and long-term memory with a goal to find biomarkers of memory. Such markers may be targets for brains stimulation based therapies for circuit disorders.

Precision Health Impact:

  • Finding circuit-based biomarkers of memory is likely the key to being able to treat disorders of memory and cognition in patients with traumatic brain injury, epilepsy, psychiatric disorders, stroke, and Alzheimer’s disease.
