About the Speaker

Daniel L.J. Thorek, PhD, is an associate professor of radiology and a principal investigator in the Precision Radiotheranostics Translation Center (PRTC) for Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR) at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, as well as a professor of biomedical engineering and radiation oncology. Thorek’s lab is focused on the development, implementation and quantitative evaluation of diagnostic and targeted therapies. The laboratory uses computation, in vitro and preclinical tools in oncology, inflammation and infectious disease biology to complement clinical samples and observations. Using engineering principles in biotechnology, radiology and drug development, the mission of this work is to understand and advance methods that will improve patient management.

About the Seminar Series

The goal of the NextGen Precision Health & Ellis Fischel Cancer Center Science Seminar is to highlight transdisciplinary precision research taking place in the cancer field, provide opportunities for collaboration among researchers to build their own research efforts and promote clinical/researcher activity across the University of Missouri System and our partners.
