About the Speaker

Ravi Patel, MD, PhD is an assistant professor at the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center specializing in the study and treatment of skin, breast, and genitourinary malignancies. His research focuses on utilizing radiation therapy to immunomodulate the tumor microenvironment to enhance the efficacy of immunotherapy treatments in solid tumors. He provides expertise in radiopharmaceutical therapy and radiopharmaceutical dosimetry.

As a physician-scientist in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Hillman Cancer Center, the focus of his translational research lab is on the development of new combination radiation immunotherapy treatments. In particular, his current research focus is on the development of targeted radiopharmaceutical therapies to enhance efficacy of immune checkpoint blockade in a variety of cancer models. He currently serves as an Authorized User for the In Vivo Imaging Core Facility and has developed several collaborations with investigators in Hillman. Moreover as a clinician, he treats GU, breast, and cutaneous malignancies and is involved in translational clinical trials. As a member of the cancer center, he hopes to foster collaborations within his clinical department in Radiation Oncology with the greater Hillman community for translational research.

About the Seminar Series

The goal of the NextGen Precision Health & Ellis Fischel Cancer Center Science Seminar is to highlight transdisciplinary precision research taking place in the cancer field, provide opportunities for collaboration among researchers to build their own research efforts and promote clinical/researcher activity across the University of Missouri System and our partners.
