Description

Dr. Limberg’s research explores how insulin affects the brain and nervous system in humans. She collaborates with others at MU to conduct basic mechanistic research in humans investigating neurovascular responses to insulin and potential implications for blood pressure control as well as cerebral perfusion and cognition. The work from her group aims to shed light on the complex interactions between insulin signaling and overall cardiovascular and cognitive health.

About the Speaker

Dr. Jacqueline Limberg is an Associate Professor of Nutrition & Exercise Physiology in the Division of Food, Nutrition & Exercise Sciences (FNES), holding a Ph.D. Her research, rooted in integrative physiology, centers on mechanisms that contribute to the development of cardiovascular disease and identifying interventions (both pharmacological and non-pharmacological, such as exercise) that can effectively prevent or reverse these risks. Dr. Limberg's specific areas of expertise and ongoing research include the neural control of blood flow and blood pressure, the effect of exercise on neurovascular control, and examining crucial sex differences in cardiovascular regulation. Her work is vital to understanding how the nervous system modulates key cardiovascular factors.

About the Seminar Series

The goal of the NextGen Cardiovascular, Muscle & Metabolism Science Seminar is to highlight transdisciplinary precision research taking place in cardiovascular, muscle and metabolism fields; provide opportunities for collaboration among researchers to build their own research efforts; and promote clinical/researcher activity across the University of Missouri System and our partners.
