Dr. Gangwani will discuss the the molecular mechanisms of transcription-coupled R-loops resolution under the normal and disease conditions, and ZPR1-dependent R-loops-mediated neurodegeneration in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Contribution of R-loops imbalance to neurodegeneration and exploitation of therapeutic potential of ZPR1 to modulate R-loop levels in vitro and in vivo in cell- and animal-based models.
Speaker Bio
Dr. Laxman Gangwani is a professor of veterinary pathobiology at the University of Missouri. His research interests include study of the molecular basis of neurodegeneration associated with pathogenesis of neurological disorders such as spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and AD-related dementia (ADRD). Dr. Gangwani presented his leading contributions in the field of neuromuscular disorders at various national and international meetings and institutes. Dr. Gangwani currently serve as an external Advisory Board Member of the European Commission Consortium, SMABEYOND.
