Beyond the Bench: Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Research 

This is a half-day event intended to expose graduate and postdoctoral trainees to a more comprehensive view of the career pathways in translational research, as well as educate researchers about entrepreneurship in academia. Activities will include info sessions, a panel discussion regarding non-traditional career pathways, and a networking reception.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their resumes to the reception, as industry guests and panel speakers will be ready to provide feedback to those who want to tailor their resumes to make an impression in biotech and entrepreneurial spaces.

Anthony Japour, MD

Dr. Anthony Japour has over 30 years of experience as a physician and as a biotechnology and pharmaceutical executive. Dr. Japour began his career at Harvard Medical School as a molecular virologist and translational research investigator. In the mid-1990’s Dr. Japour moved into the biopharmaceutical industry at Abbott Laboratories where his contributions led to accelerated FDA approval for KALETRA® (lopinavir/ritonavir) indicated for adults and children with HIV-1 infection. Over the years, Dr. Japour has provided strategic planning, public health policy, education and research consultation for private, public and governmental organizations. He currently serves as CEO, President, and board director of iTolerance, a company pioneering regenerative medicine without immunosuppression.
