About the Speaker
Dr. Celia Santi Grau Perez, MD, PhD, is the James P. Crane Professor in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and a recognized leader in reproductive biology. She earned her MD from Universidad de la Republica in Uruguay and her PhD in Biophysics‑Physiology from UNAM in Mexico, followed by postdoctoral training at the University of British Columbia and Washington University. Dr. Santi’s research focuses on the molecular and electrophysiological mechanisms that control sperm function, including the role of potassium and calcium ion channels in sperm capacitation and the acrosome reaction. Her lab combines molecular biology, genetics, and biophysics to understand male fertility and identify potential targets for non-hormonal contraception. Committed to advancing reproductive science, she mentors trainees and collaborates internationally to translate fundamental discoveries into clinical insights that improve reproductive health outcomes.
About the IRHG Seminar Series
The goal of the Interdisciplinary Reproduction & Health Group (IRHG) Seminar Series is to highlight transdisciplinary precision research taking place in the reproductive health field, provide opportunities for collaboration among researchers to build their own research efforts and promote clinical/researcher activity across the University of Missouri System and our partners.
The IRHG was organized and established through a faculty-driven, grass roots effort in 2016 to develop an integrative interdisciplinary program that transcends traditional departmental, college and system boundaries to foster excellence in reproduction, health research and education at Mizzou.
